After 59 hours without tap water, the boil-water ban (finally) lifted for Boston and the gang. Read more here.
It was quite crazy. People were actually fighting over bottled water on local groceries, starbucks closed at 5pm, restaurants couldn’t serve some beverages, and the best part - it was freaking hot and humid. Perfect timing.
It’s kinda weird I guess, because back home I wouldn’t care so much about water. Well you can’t drink tap water anyway in Jakarta, and remember the Ciliwung river? I know they said that it used to be the purest river or whatever looooong time ago, but now? You don’t even have to see it, you can smell it from far away. And I’m not even exaggerating. I always wonder why people would live in Kota or Ancol or Pulo Gadung or basically anywhere other than South Jakarta (that’s right - I’m a proud south jakarta resident, even though technically my house is in southern jakarta, not exactly south jakarta). But anyhoo, yeah the thought of not be able to get clean water got me thinking a lot. Kinda scares me, actually.
And while I was thinking, doing my projects (one more to go dammit), and surfing the internet at the same time (yes I’m a super multitasker), I came across this and this.
What a weird coincidence huh?
I feel bad complaining about 59 hours without clean water and how it’s so annoying and bla blabla, while those people on the other side of the world don’t even have access to clean water most of the time. So out of the guilt, and really because I want to help, I bought the album. Felt kinda nice afterwards. And the songs are really GOOD.

They have water-themed songs with performed by Gretchen Parlato, Steve Lukhater, George Duke, Queen Latifah, Raul Midon, Johnathan Butler, and many more.
So yeah - drink. listen. give. Buy the album DON’T PIRATE!
Now if you excuse me, I gotta go back to my date with Pro Tools.
ps. follow the Generosity Water Project on their tumblr here.
